Pyre - Oak and Fruit Wood is a reference to the transformative power of fire and to ancient burial rituals, where the bodies of the deceased were burned.  As you look at my work, you'll notice there are a lot of bold gestural strokes, poured paint, and layering of organic marks and scrapes. The composition of the artwork tells a story all on its own. The technique of how colour is applied, with its smooth and soft contrast to bold and textured strokes, gives that dialogue air.

I use a range of brushes, palette knives, squeegees or other types of scraping tools to create my artwork. My inspiration comes from a particular state of mind, usually looking backwards at my own history. My drive to paint comes from the need to share my world, but at the same time, I hide behind it. I swing from nervous, unsure marks to confident lines and fields of colour.
